Taxpayer-Funded Abortion Finds Room on Dem Platform

The 2012 Democratic Platform explicitly aligns the party to the radical pro-abortion movement and officially endorses taxpayer-funded abortion.

Democrats “strongly and unequivocally support Roe v. Wade,” the platform reads, “regardless of ability to pay.”

The 2004 Democratic Platform backed the premise that abortion should be “safe, legal and rare.” However, the “progressive” party replaced that with taxpayer-funded abortion language, which would make abortion more risky, free and frequent.

The leader of the Democrat Party, President Barack Obama, has a long, consistent history of advancing abortion. During the early days of his career in the Illinois legislature, Obama refused to support parental notification and a ban on late-term abortions. He even refused to vote for legislation requiring medical treatment for babies who survive an abortion and are born alive.

“President Obama and the administration that he has gathered comprise the most radical, ideologically driven administration in American history,” says Mat Staver, chairman of Liberty Counsel Action. “His pro-abortion and pro-homosexual rights ideology trumps everything, even the economy.”

In his short career as a U.S. senator, Obama voted to provide taxpayer funding to organizations that provide and promote abortions overseas, supported taxpayer-funded embryonic stem cell research, and voted against legislation to prevent the transportation of minor girls by nonrelatives across state lines for an abortion.

In his first executive order as president of the United States, Obama repealed the Mexico City Policy, restoring U.S. funding to organizations that perform and promote abortion overseas. Another executive order repealed the conscience clause protection for health professionals, forcing doctors and nurses to participate in procedures that violate their values.

Despite promises to legislators and an executive order to the contrary, Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services approved taxpayer-funded abortion in Obamacare.

“Of all the myriad of issues that the president and his administration could be working on to bring more jobs and better our economy, they have spent the last three years pushing their very radical, anti-life and anti-liberty agenda,” Staver says. “It is part and parcel of what they believe and who they are. If re-elected, we can expect in-your-face forced abortion funding and an aggressive deconstruction of moral principles.”
