Ted Cruz’s Latest Radio Ads Aren’t Aimed at Who You Think

Donald Trump may be moderately popular in New York City, the place of his birth, but there’s a politician in the Big Apple who almost no one likes right now.

So, with his latest radio ad—launched following attacks directed in his direction—U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is taking aim at Mayor Bill de Blasio. The ad highlights the senator’s commitment to ending soft anti-terror policies, defunding sanctuary cities and instructing the Justice Department to hold corrupt politicians accountable.

The 60-second spot, titled “Nerve,” opens with a clip in which de Blasio attacked Cruz as “out of touch” with New Yorkers. It then explores the results of the mayor’s socialist agenda for New York City:

He’s got a lot of nerve, de Blasio’s socialist policies are tearing this city apart.

Murder is up nearly 10 percent. He treats cops like criminals and criminals like freedom fighters. De Blasio made New York a sanctuary city, rolling out the red carpet for illegals, and de Blasio ended stop and frisk even where terrorist suspects are known to congregate.

Now, he’s meddling in the Republican primary campaigning against Cruz because when Cruz is President, de Blasio is done.

No more criminal coddling soft on terror policies, no more sanctuary cities and Cruz will instruct the Justice Department to hold corrupt politicians accountable. Maybe that’s why de Blasio fears Ted Cruz. Send de Blasio a message, vote Cruz for president.

It’s unclear how effective campaigning against de Blasio will be, but the Cruz campaign needs all of the momentum it can get in New York. Currently, Trump leads by more than 35 points over Ohio Gov. John Kasich, while Cruz remains mired in the upper-teens in most polls.
