If the race for the presidency comes down to a choice between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and businessman Donald Trump, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Israelis should put their trust in the U.S. Congress.

“One thing I can say is that the Congress has historically had Israel’s back, and that presidents come and go,” said in an interview Tuesday with the Jerusalem Post while visiting Israel.

As for Clinton, he said he felt her presidency would effectively be a third term for President Barack Obama. With regard to Trump, he said he doesn’t think the GOP front-runner is a “reliable Republican conservative,” saying he thought Trump’s foreign policy is “ill conceived” and would be dangerous for the world.

Israel should “pull for Congress,” he said, because it “has Israel’s back more than any other institution.”

Graham was in Israel as part of a Senate delegation to discuss negotiations over a new 10-year military support agreement for Israel. He told the JP that there is “bipartisan support” to increase U.S. support in Congress.
