During a recent interview, Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson explained how God led him to make the decision to run for office.

Carson was a guest on the weekly “The Church Boys” podcast program when he was asked by one of the hosts to explain his decision-making process. The retired neurosurgeon said, ultimately, it was an “easy” decision to make.

“It was easy for me, because all the pundits, all the political experts said, ‘Absolutely impossible. A political novice to run for president? There’s no way you can out together an organization, there’s no way you can pay for it. It’s impossible,’ which comforted me, because I wasn’t that interested to do it anyway,” he said. “I finally said, ‘Lord if You truly want me to do this, You’ll have to open the doors, because I’m certainly not going to kick them down. And if You open the doors, I will walk through them. And as long as You hold them open, I will walk through them, but if You close them, I will sit down.’ That’s the way I have looked at it.”

The entire interview runs about 20 minutes (click ahead to the 1:03:00 mark). It’s a wide-ranging interview in which Carson’s honesty and integrity became a central theme.
