Marco Rubio: America is ‘at the Water’s Edge’ of Persecuting Christians

In a recent interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Presidential hopeful Sen. Marco Rubio said that Christianity is facing a “real and present danger” in the United States due to growing acceptance of gay marriage. He went on to say that, “We are at the water’s edge of the argument that mainstream Christian teaching is hate speech.” Senator Rubio is one of only a few Republican candidates actually willing to give a decisive opinion on the gay marriage issue. Rubio says that the next step is for gays to “argue that the teachings of mainstream Christianity are hate speech, and that’s a real and present danger.” Earlier this year, Rubio said that it’s “ridiculous and absurd” to believe that there is a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. Those remarks even came ahead of the Supreme Court hearing oral arguments in the case that is now authorizing same-sex couples to marry in all 50 states. Rubio’s opposition to gay marriage puts him in line with the Republican Party platform and what the Republican Party has traditionally stood for. For some reason, most other Republican candidates can’t seem to find the common sense to take the pro-family position that the Republican Party has always stood for. Marco Rubio may know why. In his interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, he said, “Today, we’ve reached the point in our society where if you do not support same-sex marriage you are labeled a homophobe and a hater.” It’s time for presidential candidates to stop being intimidated by a very vocal minority and give us a candidate who will stand for what the people want. Traditional families have always been the foundation of America. Time has proven that they are a self-supporting economic unit. In 2016, let’s put someone in the White House who understands the importance of traditional families. This article originally appeared on Eagle Forum.
