Senate confirmation hearings got underway Tuesday for the President’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

The left and Big Abortion desperately want to block Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation, spreading a flurry of misinformation and paranoid fearmongering to stir their supporters into action.

However, it appears their deceptive abortion distortion is contradictory to the qualified opinions of over half of the attorneys general in the United States.

The attorneys general of 26 states signed a letter endorsing the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. That letter was delivered to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein:

As the chief legal officers of our states, we write to urge the United States Senate to promptly hold a hearing on and confirm the nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States. Judge Kavanaugh is an outstanding jurist with a proven commitment to upholding the Constitution and the rule of law. We have no doubt that he possesses the qualifications, temperament and judicial philosophy to be an excellent associate justice.

The 26 attorneys general supporting Judge Kavanaugh represent West Virginia, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Their letter praises Judge Kavanaugh as having “demonstrated an abiding commitment to the principles and freedoms on which our country was founded, and an unshakable respect for the proper role of the courts within our constitutional structure.”

They also highlight Judge Kavanaugh’s proven respect for the Constitution and his respect for the role of individual states in legislation and policy:

As the attorneys general of our respective states, we have a special interest in ensuring that the federal government respects the important role of the states in crafting and tailoring regulatory policy on matters of local concern. Federal judges, including the next associate justice of the United States Supreme Court—must respect principles of federalism and the balance of power reflected in our Constitution. We are confident Judge Kavanaugh appreciates that balance, and that he will protect the prerogatives of the states to manage their own regulatory framework.

Judge Kavanaugh is particularly well-suited to enforce the Constitution’s structural limitations and safeguard the freedoms of the states and the people.

As we’ve stated, Judge Brett Kavanaugh is a superb choice to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court. He is a consistent conservative. He stands for the rule of law and our Constitution. He’s also a man of faith.

This is exactly why we told you the left and Big Abortion have begun a scorched-earth campaign to stop Judge Kavanaugh from being confirmed at any cost.

We reported to you how Planned Parenthood—the abortion giant that rakes in hundreds of millions in taxpayer funding each year—is spending a small fortune on anti-Kavanaugh propaganda ads to run on television and the Internet.

In maybe their most vile move yet, we recently told you about abortion advocate NARAL’s partnership with an Oregon ice cream company to make an abortion-themed ice cream flavor called “Rocky Roe vs. Wade.” All profits from the sale of this reprehensible confection will be used to “defend reproductive freedom.”

These hearings and the Senate’s confirmation of Judge Kavanagh mark a pivotal point for our nation. Life, free speech, religious liberty and national security are all at stake. As the attorneys general’s letter reiterated, the next justice could remake the Supreme Court for generations.

Confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court will have profound and long-lasting consequences for the people in our states. For too long we have suffered the ill effects of federal overreach as all three branches have at times exceeded the constitutional limits on their authority. Judge Kavanaugh will help reverse that trend by reviewing challenged laws and regulations with an eye to ensuring that all branches of our government act within their constitutionally assigned roles—regardless of which party is in power. A judiciary committed to the fundamental principles enshrined in the Constitution can ensure that the work being done now is safeguarded for decades to come.

The ACLJ stands in agreement with these 26 attorneys general that Judge Kavanaugh is an excellent choice for the Supreme Court and will be well received by the American people.

We urge the Senate to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh in time for the start of the Supreme Court’s new term in October. {eoa}
