Ballot Initiative Launched to Declare Abortion Capital Murder

A new effort underway in Florida would establish the harshest penalties ever proposed for those who both perform and procure abortions.

Abolish Abortion Florida has launched a ballot initiative to amend the state’s constitution to punish abortion as capital murder, both for the physician who performs the procedure and the woman who seeks it. Additionally, it defines “abortion” to include “any abortifacient drug or device that can kill an embryo by preventing implantation, as well as the intentional destruction of unwanted IVF embryos.”

According to AAFL, the amendment “would define life as beginning at fertilization rather than ‘conception,’ and declares that ‘abortion deprives an innocent human being of the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.'” Floridians are encouraged to sign the petition available at the organization’s website.

The resolution states:

We the People of the Sovereign State of Florida demand the abolition of abortion.

The people of Florida murder 72,000 babies every year while the “pro-life” politicians we’ve elected to protect them attempt to regulate the practice of child sacrifice as if it were healthcare, instead of addressing it as murder. The governing authorities of our state possess the moral, legal, and constitutional duty to establish justice for all human beings within their jurisdiction, including the pre-born fatherless by prohibiting the slaughter of children in the womb.

Contrary to widespread misinformation, the right to murder humans is not protected by the Constitution and our legislature is not bound by any law or duty to aid or abet the Supreme Court in their attempted perversion of it. On the contrary, they are duty bound by their oaths to support, obey and defend the United States Constitution and oppose such perversions and abuses of it.

We demand that our legislators stop passing laws to regulate abortion. We demand the total and immediate abolition of human abortion.

Florida is one of 30 states with capital punishment. Capital murder in that state is punishable by either the death penalty or life imprisonment. Earlier this year, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was heavily criticized by many from both sides of the political spectrum for suggesting both the women and doctors should be punished for taking part in abortions.

AAFL’s plan is not just limited to collecting enough signatures to get the measure onto the 2018 ballot, but also to encourage legislators to begin putting forward legislation to abolish abortion instead of merely regulating it. The organization made the following statement to announce its plan:

“The Supreme Court cannot make murder legal. Pro-life politicians have passed incremental regulations for decades, but it’s time to abolish abortion by recognizing it for what it is—cold-blooded murder—and prosecuting it accordingly.”
