With some analysts pointing to a Newt Gingrich comeback on the horizon, the Republican presidential hopeful is continuing make his push on the campaign trail. One of his next stops: Oral Roberts University (ORU).

Gingrich will attend a town hall event sponsored by the ORU College Republicans on Feb. 20 in ORU’s Mabee Center. The event, which is free to the public, will also be streamed online at oru.edu/townhall. Gingrich will make opening statements and participate in a question-and-answer session.

The news comes the day after Gingrich unveiled his Faith Leaders Dream Team, rallying the likes of Don Wildmon, Tim LaHaye, George Barna, JC Watts, Mat Staver, Jim Garlow and Chuck Norris in a quest to take on the “radical secularism of the Obama administration.”

“For me and the people of faith joining this coalition, this is not a political move; it is a spiritual one,” says Garlow, senior pastor of Skyline Church in La Mesa, Calif., and a major figure in the Proposition 8 battle in California. “Gingrich is the man who will best represent biblical principles and will be best equipped to defeat President Obama in November.”

After the 1994 mid-term elections, Gingrich became the first Republican Speaker of the House in 40 years. He initially launched his first campaign for Congress in 1974. He lost that year, and again in 1976, to Democratic incumbent Nelson Rockefeller. In 1978, Gingrich won a seat in the House. He would be re-elected to Congress 10 times.

“Newt Gingrich recognizes the threat to our country posed by judges and lawyers imposing values upon the country inconsistent with our religious heritage, and has proposed constitutional steps to bring the courts back in balance under the constitution,” says Wildmon, founder of the American Family Association. “We need someone in the White House who can balance the budget and get the economy moving again. Newt has done it before and I believe he can do it again.”
