Influential Leaders Praise Stephen E. Strang’s New Book, ‘God and Donald Trump’

U.S. President Donald Trump arrives at a campaign rally in Phoenix, Arizona, Aug. 22, 2017.

About a year ago, many across the country—especially Christians—were struggling with their vote in the 2016 election. Americans were, to say the least, torn.

Among them was presidential hopeful and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who penned the foreword for the soon-to-be-released book by Stephen E. Strang titled God and Donald Trump. The newest work by the award-winning journalist and Charisma Media founder explores the religious and spiritual dynamics of the historic election and the impact Christians had on Donald Trump rising to become the leader of the free world.

In God and Donald Trump, Huckabee freely admits: “Donald Trump was not my first choice for president—I was my first choice.”

“Every prediction about the 2016 race was wrong,” Huckabee writes in the foreword to “God and Donald Trump.” “Those of us who brought years of experience and effective governing to the race found that voters were not interested. They blamed everyone from Washington for the mess and even blamed those of us who had never worked in D.C. Knowing who to vote for doesn’t always come easy for the Christian, and this past election was no different. Many struggled with the fact that Donald Trump’s stance on pro-life issues, same-sex marriage and Israel didn’t necessarily come from a deep conviction either politically or biblically. You can think whatever you like about Donald Trump, but there’s no denying that he broke the code, owned the media and inspired the masses. And when he became the nominee at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, I predicted then and there that he would defeat Hillary Clinton and become the 45th president of the United States.”

Huckabee added that the support Trump has garnered from many leaders in the evangelical community shows that they, too, see the value of coalescing behind him to change the course of the nation.

“Since his election, I’m encouraged by the way President Trump has surrounded himself with a number of evangelical Christians, starting with Vice President Mike Pence, and genuinely desires their counsel,” Huckabee wrote. “I believe his continued openness to input from Christian leaders shows that he wasn’t only pandering for votes, but that he truly understands and welcomes godly advice and he sees the value of prayer.”

In God and Donald Trump, Strang provides answers to questions many are asking: Why Trump, who is not known as being religious, is letting religious leaders pray over him regularly and allowing Bible studies for Cabinet members in the White House. The book also asks if there is a spiritual aspect to this election and cites four “modern-day charismatic prophets” who predicted Trump would win against all odds.

God and Donald Trump—set for release on Nov. 7, almost a year to the day from the presidential election—takes an incisive look at the factors that shaped the election and drove the largest number of conservative and evangelical voters ever recorded to the polls.

Strang provides the inside story on the road to the White House through personal, one-on-one interviews with Trump, along with firsthand reports from many of America’s best known and most insightful Christian leaders. He also reveals the strategies, behind-the-scenes activity and prophetic voices that helped shape these dramatic events.

Early praise for God and Donald Trump also includes these words from Michele Bachmann, former U.S. Representative from Minnesota:

“Everyone is curious about the topic of God and Donald Trump,” Bachmann writes. “That’s why I’m so thankful that a trusted Christian writer like Stephen Strang took on this timely challenge. I know President Donald Trump personally, I like him as a man, and I enjoy serving on his Faith Leaders Executive Advisory initiative. President Trump sincerely cares about protecting every American’s religious liberty rights under our brilliant First Amendment. In God and Donald Trump, you’ll find a comprehensive, realistic and fair assessment of President Trump’s faith. In fact, I’m confident you’ll be pleased by what you read. I’ve come to trust and rely upon Steve Strang’s words since I began reading his columns in Charisma magazine in the 1980s. Enjoy this important book!”

Stephen E. Strang is an award-winning journalist and successful businessman who began his career as a newspaper reporter at the Orlando Sentinel before founding a Christian publishing house and media company while interviewing and writing about nearly every Christian leader in the country over the past four decades.

God and Donald Trump is published by Frontline, an imprint of Charisma House, which has published books that challenge, encourage, teach and equip Christians, including 13 New York Times best-sellers.
