How Prayer and Fasting Turned the Presidential Election

Even as they lick their wounds from an electoral loss none of them saw coming, the liberals, socialists, progressives, statists and political elites still had a moment to spare to mock the idea that evangelicals’ fasting and prayer helped turn the election for President-Elect Donald Trump.

But groups around the country were doing just that: praying and fasting, not just for Trump’s victory, but—in the spirit of 2 Chronicles 7:14—for the Lord to hear our prayers and heal our broken land. Now, in the video above, historian David Barton of WallBuilders and former U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) explain how they visibly witnessed their prayers being answered on Election Night.

Bachmann explained that at the moment she and Barton began their election coverage for Daystar, the New York Times was giving Trump even odds to win the election. She continued:

“We have a prayer room here. We had people all across the United States joining with our prayer room here in Dallas in prayer, and look what happened.

“This was the moment when the whole race broke, when prayer began, when the church came out and then we see a 30-point swing here, a 30-point swing here and now we see the swing to a 95 percent chance of Trump winning … it’s phenomenal!”

Bachmann later added:

“This graphic that was produced by The New York Times should tell believers and pastors the power of prayer, the power of action, and here it is. A graphic—the night isn’t even over, the decision hasn’t even been fully made yet about the presidency, and already we know that the glory goes to the God Almighty, the God of the Universe, the Sovereign Lord.

“He is the one who did this for us. He did, because His people got on their knees and cried out to holy God and said, ‘We can’t go down this road any more, Father, we ask You for Your mercy.’ And this is the proof positive of what the Lord did. The Lord did this!”
