In an interview Monday morning for FOX News Channel’s FOX and Friends program, former Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson likened the United States to a ship “that is about to go off of Niagara Falls with tremendous carnage and death.”
“What you have to do first is recognize the problem, stop the ship, turn it around and then move in the other direction,” he said.
“I’m hoping that whoever that third-party candidate is will just stop for a moment and think about what the implications are of allowing Hillary Clinton or someone like her to get in there,” he later added in response to claims a third-party conservative candidate is about to enter the race. “They get two to four Supreme Court picks and completely change the nature of this country and destroy the prospects for their children and their grandchildren to have the same opportunities that they had.”
Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard and key figure in the conservative #NeverTrump campaign, announced via Twitter on Sunday that just such a candidate will emerge. He promised the candidate would be an “impressive” conservative.
