A Bush Says Republicans Should Vote for Donald Trump

Admitting it’s a “hard pill to swallow,” one member of the Bush family is breaking ranks with his family and is urging Republicans to vote for Donald Trump in November.

“From Team Bush, it’s a bitter pill to swallow, but you know what? You get back up and you help the man who won, and you make sure that we stop Hillary Clinton,” Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush said during an event last week. He is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who has pledged not to vote for Trump in November.

His grandfather, President George H.W. Bush, and uncle, President George W. Bush, have both withheld their support for Trump. Apologists for the Bush family have already tried to spin George P.’s “endorsement” as a “job requirement” as a Texas elected official and member of the GOP.

“I think it’s probably not easy for George P. Bush,” Bush family confidante Ana Navarro told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Monday. “I suspect that he feels about as much enthusiasm for supporting Donald Trump as I do about hand-massaged kale … The guy probably wasn’t his 10th choice. But he is the nominee we have, and George P. is doing what he needs to do, and I’m sure his father has absolutely no trouble with it.”
