The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the U.S. Department of Justice did, indeed, put up roadblocks to an FBI investigation of corruption in the Clinton Foundation.

The new report, which corroborates an August report by The Daily Caller that numerous FBI field offices and U.S. Attorneys’ offices were attempting to investigate, said that tensions have been building within the bureau for months. According to The Wall Street Journal, the investigation has continued, but the DOJ has repeatedly gotten in the FBI’s way by blocking “more aggressive investigative techniques,” such as subpoenas, witness interviews and grand jury activity.

That kept the investigation under the radar for most news outlets. But now that it’s fully out in the open, the Donald Trump campaign has quickly weighed in.

“Secretary Clinton, did you or one of your aides coerce or ask the Obama Department of Justice to force the FBI to scale back the investigation into the Clinton Foundation?” campaign spokesman Jason Miller asked Monday morning as part of the Trump camp’s daily “Crooked Hillary Question of the Day.”
