Why Dinesh D’Souza Is Absolutely Unconvinced by Costco’s Explanation

Costco has reversed its decision to yank Dinesh D’Souza’s latest book from shelves, but D’Souza does not believe Costco’s claim that the original decision was based on dollars and cents.

Costco claimed on social media that America: Imagine a World Without Her was withdrawn from stores due to lower than expected sales, not political bias.

But D’Souza told Sean Hannity that the book is the current no. 1 seller on Amazon.com, surpassing Hillary Clinton’s Hard Choices last week.

“This is absolutely unprecedented, and the idea that it’s based upon low sales is preposterous. Costco features hundreds of books; they even have book signings for people whose books are No. 10,000, No. 85,000 on the Amazon list,” D’Souza told Hannity.

D’Souza instead believes that Costco’s close political relationship with President Obama sparked the censorship.

“This is a clearly a political decision that they made. I think it’s because of their alliance with the Obama administration, and now they’re feeling the heat, so they’re trying to figure out how to wiggle out of it.”

Hannity noted that Federal Election Commission records reveal Costco’s former CEO donated $100,000 to the Obama campaign in 2012, and that Costco employees themselves donated over $200,000 during the president’s first term.

D’Souza was careful to mention that the news of Costco’s decision happens to coincide with this week’s theatrical release of America, the book’s documentary counterpart.
