How You Can Lovingly Reach the Lost This Holiday Season

Share:

Jesus told me, “This is a soul winner’s crown. My people are so careless and indifferent. This crown is for every one of My children. I speak and say, ‘Go speak to this one or pray for that one,’ but My people are too busy. They put it off, and souls are lost because they will not obey Me.”

Those were the words of Jesus spoken to one of His humble servants in a dramatic vision many years ago.

I’ve often thought of how intentionality in obeying this word from the Lord is so lacking in the body of Christ, especially during such holiday seasons as we are in now. How many of us are intentional in reaching out and sharing the real gospel of salvation with unsaved loved ones, co-workers and friends?

You don’t have to be an evangelist to share the gospel. Every member of the body of Christ can do that. Everyone can share their testimony, tell the Good News or pray for someone. The love of God has been shed abroad in each believer’s heart by the Holy Spirit.

“For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love” (Rom. 5:5, NLT).

If we will be sensitive to the love of God that has been shed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, we will be more intentional about reaching the lost. At times, just small acts of love and kindness will deeply touch the hearts of those without Christ.

The Old Lady and Apple Pies

I remember hearing the beautiful story of an old Christian lady who won much of her neighborhood to the Lord by baking apple pies. She wasn’t a preacher, but she could bake apple pies. What can you do?

One by one, her neighbors would receive a freshly baked apple pie from this precious woman, and it would open up a door for her to share her life and testimony with them and tell them the Good News of Jesus. The important point here is that she was intentional about it.

As another example, for years I had been wanting to make my own personal gospel tract to sow into the unsaved as the Lord would lead me. But I kept dragging my feet on this desire, and I kept putting the idea off, until I finally decided to become intentional. I began to think of the number of sinners I meet and connect with on a regular basis and what reading my personal testimony would do for them. Finally, I wrote the tract and printed many copies. As a result, I’ve been handing them out now for many years.

It’s a precious seed of a powerful testimony of a life (my life) that was totally transformed! Just this past week I had to call AAA auto services to restart my car that suddenly wouldn’t start. Well, once the representative arrived and we finished chatting, I gave the man my personal gospel tract. Over the years I’ve done that with repairmen, technicians and neighbors who have been to our house. I’ve done that with various restaurant servers. It’s not hard. You just have to have a heart to please God and share His love with others, and then just be intentional about it. Seeking ways to win souls to Jesus is a demonstration of the highest wisdom to seek ways to win souls to Jesus. The Lord is looking for such laborers.

“But a life lived loving God bears lasting fruit, for the one who is truly wise wins souls” (Prov. 11:30, TPT).

“The Lord looks down in love, bending over heaven’s balcony. God looks over all of Adam’s sons and daughters, looking to see if there are any who are wise with insight—any who search for him, wanting to please him” (Ps. 53:2).

Let the love of our precious Savior rule your heart during this Christmas season and be intentional about sowing the gospel and the testimony of Jesus Christ to your unsaved loved ones and other lost people. Remember, some sow. Some water. Some reap. God is the one who gives the increase.
