As the world prepares to usher in a new year, The Friends of Israel will be marking quite a different, and very exceptional, event: 2013 marks 75 years of God’s love and faithfulness to The Friends of Israelas they have fostered solidarity with the Jewish people.

In 1938, The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, started in Philadelphia to aid beleaguered European Jewish people escape the extreme persecution they faced in the days leading up to World War II.  Today it has grown to become a worldwide organization that is educating people about God’s plan for the tiny Middle Eastern nation of Israel and Jewish people the world over.

During its anniversary year, The Friends of Israel will celebrate this three-quarter century grand anniversary with festivities at home as well as with service to the people of Israel, continuing strong with their work of the past 75 years.

“That God has blessed an organization to last throughout World War II, aiding Jewish survivors from around the globe in the aftermath of the Holocaust, is quite extraordinary and to Him we give all honor and glory and praise,” said Jim Showers, the President and Executive Director of The Friends of Israel. “God has touched countless lives through the ministry of The Friends of Israel over the past 75 years.

“It’s a joy to be guiding this organization and our remarkable and tireless staff into the future, both teaching people about Israel’s Biblical significance and about God’s love and provision for His Chosen people.”

In 2013, The Friends of Israel will host two services trips to Israel: a HESED adult service trip in late February and an ORIGINS young adult service trip in July. The organization will also offer one of its “Up to Jerusalem” educational tours in early March.

In addition to their ministries in Israel, The Friends of Israel will also continue its educational endeavors, teaching in America about prophecy and the role that Israel plays through its annual prophecy conferences – which are held in Winona Lake, Indiana and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The Friends of Israelalso offers Biblical prophecy insight around the United States at smaller, more localized prophecy conferences called A Day in the Prophetic Word, and also teaches a wide variety of Biblical studies in formal classes through its Institute of Jewish Studies.

The Friends of Israel was founded in 1938 by Christian leaders in response to the desperate needs of Jewish people afflicted by the raging torrents of Nazi hate during the Holocaust. Through this Christian ministry, funds were raised and aid was distributed to Jewish refugees in their darkest hours of need. Today, The Friends of Israel is a worldwide Christian ministry that communicates biblical truth about Israel and the Messiah, while fostering solidarity with the Jewish people.
