Boycott Backfire Proved Deadly in France Attacks

France's BDS measures may have backfired on it.

As many of you know, there is a movement of anti-Israel activists, even in the church, that encourages boycotting Israeli products, pulling out of any investment in Israel or Israeli companies and sanctions against Israel, known as Boycott, Divestment, Sanction (BDS).

They seek to punish Israel because we built a fence that stopped terrorism, or maybe because we didn’t allow Egypt and Syria to destroy us in 1967, or possibly because we rebirthed our homeland on the ancient land of Israel—a land that never housed a country called Palestine and a land that was never highly populated by Arabs until the Jews began to return.

But their problem is that so much of the world’s good, groundbreaking technology and medical breakthroughs come from Israel—from Intel chips to SMS texting—from drip irrigation to the fact that Israel’s TEVA Pharmaceuticals is the largest producer of generic drugs in the world.

Our good friend, IDF soldier Hananya Naftali, pointed out in his viral video regarding all the different things that BDSers would have to give up, if they truly enforced their bans.

However, it appears that boycotting Israeli products may have been a deadly mistake for France since we in Israel are leading the movement in inventing equipment to confront terrorism. Many countries, like India, covet their partnership with Israel in fighting extremism, but leftist Europe wants to cut off its nose despite its face.

Not long after the Charlie Hedbo terror attacks in France (Jan. 7, 2015) an Israeli company pitched anti-terror software to the French government. The software could have helped them identify the terrorists who recently killed 130 people.

“French authorities liked it, but the official came back and said there was a higher-level instruction not to buy Israeli technology,” a well-placed Israeli counter-terror specialist familiar with the technology and the company behind it told foxnews.com. “The discussion just stopped.”

Days after the Brussels attacks, Belgium police wasted no time in purchasing advanced surveillance and rapid view technology from briefcam.com, an Israeli company. According to Fox News, this system is being utilized at the Statue of Liberty and other airports in the U.S.

Sadly, France allowed political correctness and the typical anti-Israel bias that has gripped Western Europe to keep them from protecting their citizens with the latest anti-terrorism technology.

What will their people say when they find out that such biases may have resulted in 130 deaths and many more injuries? {eoa}

Ron Cantor is the lead pastor of Tiferet Yeshua Congregation in Tel Aviv (along with an anointed team of leaders). Yeshua found him when was an 18-year-old agnostic. You can read about it in Leave Me Alone, I am Jewish!—his testimony. He has also written a novel about the first Jewish believers called Identity Theft. Both books are available on Amazon.
