After 84 people were killed in Nice, France, Newt Gingrich called for the deportation of Muslims in America who embrace Sharia law:
"Western civilization is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in sharia they should be deported," Gingrich told Fox News' Sean Hannity.
"Sharia is incompatible with western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia—glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door," he added. Further, he said: "Anybody who goes on a website favoring ISIS or al Qaeda or other terrorist groups, that should be a felony, and they should go to jail. Any organization which hosts such a website should be engaged in a felony. It should be closed down immediately."
When Khizr Khan pulled out from his coat pocket what was apparently a theater stage prop—the U.S. Constitution—during his Democratic National Convention speech, I wondered, "Does he support Sharia law? If so, his stunt is deception."
"It turns out that we were conned by Khan," quipped former Hoover Institution Paul Sperry on Breitbart News Daily with SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon last Wednesday. "His past Islamic writings reveal his support for sharia, and extreme sharia enforcers, which totally contradicts his support for the Constitution he waved in all our faces at the Democratic convention."
Let's be crystal clear. Fascism is assaulting America on two fronts: militant Islam and militant homosexuality. Islam and secularism are irreconcilable, competing religions and worldviews that are attempting to oust the Judeo-Christian root system conceived by America's Founders. As the church in America continues to slumber and disengage from the public square, Americans interested in freedom and liberty should be prepared to face the consequences of the collapse of the biblically based culture.
My friend Os Guinness writes about these things in his latest book, Impossible People.
"The West has lost its soul. It is no longer distinguished and admired for its ideals it once had, for these have either vanished or are viewed only as the spurious claims of a hypocrite. Increasingly now, if the West is admired, it is only for it technological prowess, its economic prosperity and its military power, all of which will soon fade too. Yet while the West is no longer Christian in its foundations, it is not yet fully non-Christian (secularist or pagan) either, though post-Christian phase may soon reach the point of no return.
"But we can say with an organic certainty, which is as sure as any mathematical certainty, that the growth and the flowers that they produced [benefits from a Biblical-based culture] will eventually die.
"The blunt truth is that secularism and other alternative philosophies that claim to replace the Jewish and Christian roots have no adequate root system of their own with which to nourish the ideals. Witness, for example, the inability of the new atheists to provide for an adequate foundation for such notions as the sanctity of life, the dignity of the individual person, the responsibility of freedom, justice, equality and universality—let alone the antidote to the mounting inequalities and polarizations in society. Once rooted in the belief that every last human is precious and has an inalienable dignity because he or she is made in the image of God, and that freedom is the gift through which humans most resemble their Creator, such biblical roots have been cut and their fruits are withering."
Women in America are free. But if we continue down this road, what is occurring in Europe will become more pronounced here. And what are the ramifications? The Quran, Surah 4:34 says: "Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and forsake them in beds apart, and beat them."
"The West has lost Christ, and that is why it is dying; that is the only reason."—Fyodor Dostoevsky
Dostoevsky brings Truth into the light. If virtue is a key component of freedom, then those who undermine Christianity kill liberty, because man, without God, cannot remain free.
On a side note, Donald Trump spoke last week at the "Pastors and Pews" event in Orlando, sponsored by the American Renewal Project. Mr. Trump encouraged the repeal of the Johnson Amendment. "That's a good first step," I said to a reporter.
"But what about the religious liberty of Christian photographers, Christian bakers, Christian retreat centers, and pastors who believe same-sex intercourse and marriage is sin? These Christians were simply living out their deeply held convictions of their Christian faith when they politely refused to provide services for a same-sex wedding. Doesn't the First Amendment give us all a right to our beliefs?" Lane added: "Homosexual totalitarianism is out of the closet, the militants are trying to herd Christians there."
Pray for America. We need a Gideon or Rahab to stand.
