Ukrainian Church Believes for Miracles, Healing, Supernatural Presence of God Amid Horrors of War

As Russian bombs are exploding just miles away, Christians continue to gather in the war-torn country of Ukraine to pray and worship the Lord Jesus Christ, demonstrating courageous faith and strong resolve to combat evil with spiritual weapons.

A video emerged online in mid-March of an international news correspondent from CBN attending a church gathering of believers in Ukraine while Russia’s military forces were attacking in the surrounding area. Instead of intimidating the Christians in this Ukrainian church, the threat of persecution, injury and death strengthened and increased their desperate seeking of the Lord God.

“I’m about 20 miles from the Russians, and today you have a church singing in the midst of their enemies and praying,” says George Thomas, CBN senior international correspondent, in a video posted on March 14. “Today, as you pray for the nation of Ukraine, remember that there is a remnant that is strong and that is fearless in the face of their enemy.”

The body of Christ is standing firm in Ukraine. Christians are praying and seeking God, whether they are in churches, bomb shelters, underground or wherever. They are praying for God’s protection as well as for peace and God’s will to be done.

They are believing for miracles, healing and the supernatural presence of God to manifest itself powerfully throughout Ukraine. There is such faith being exercised, with crying out to God, as shown on video, that some wonder if the presence and glory of God will become so pervasive in Ukraine that Russian soldiers will kneel down and repent on the battlefield, while Ukrainians extend grace, forgiveness and mercy, showing the love of Christ.

Thomas adds, “May this bring a blessing that, even in the midst of trial, in the midst of war, the church is singing. The church is standing. They are being the Dietrich Bonhoeffers of their time, standing against the wave of evil, bringing a standard of righteousness and holiness in the midst of calamity.”

Worship and prayer are tools for spiritual warfare, cutting through the darkness and joining brothers and sisters in Christ in the Spirit worldwide. Ukrainian Christians are standing in the gap, vulnerable, yet emboldened by the Spirit of God.

At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Jentezen Franklin, senior pastor of Free Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia, tweeted out a message that still rings true after weeks of Russia’s onslaught of violence against its neighboring nation: “The people of Ukraine need your prayers as Russia continues their invasion”:
