“Many pop celebrities have received Christ and are boldly proclaiming their faith on traditional and new media. I have no doubt that the largest revival in the End-Times will be a move of God in the Chinese-speaking world,” Kong wrote.
Kong’s speculations fall in line with prophecies laid out in Matthew 24 about the persecution of believers in the end of days.
“Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and will kill you. And you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake,” reads verse 9.
Chinese officials have cracked down in recent months on Christians who protested the government’s removal of crosses.
China Aid recently reported a 300 percent increase in religious persecution of Christians since 2013. Among the victims were 17,884 believers, including 1,592 church leaders, according to the 2014 China Aid annual report.
