Do Four Blood Moons Shadow Prophetic End-Times Reality?

The Four Blood Moons hit U.S. cinemas nationwide on March 23. It turns out the first showing of the docudrama, based on Pastor John Hagee’s best-selling book, was such a big hit that its producers are planning another event.

Four Blood Moons, produced by Fathom Events, Goose Creek Productions, INPOP Records, ReelWorks Studios and The WTA Group, explores the supernatural occurrence in which science, history and Scripture all align in the examination of a rare lunar phenomenon that has over the centuries accompanied both tragedy and triumph for the Jewish people.

Only three times in the past 500 years have four of these blood moons occurred back to back and on major Jewish holy days. The fourth tetrad began April 15, 2014, on Passover. In October of last year, the second blood moon appeared on the Feast of Tabernacles. Blood moons in 2015 land on the same holy days.

Are blood moons really prophetic signs from God? Hagee thinks so, but Christopher Katulka, host of The Friends of Israel Today radio program, isn’t so sure.

“Placing prophetic value on these blood moons grabs our attention, but the referenced events are random. Some involved a serious struggle but ended in joy, like Israel’s independence and the Six-Day War, while others ended only in sorrow, like the expulsion from Spain,” he says. “Furthermore, there were important historical Jewish events, such as the destruction of the two Temples and the Holocaust, that were unaccompanied by blood moons.”

Kevin Clarkson, host of Prophecy in the News and senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Moore, Oklahoma, has seen what he calls an incredible convergence of events beyond manipulation by man.

“A cycle of four blood moons over two consecutive years … each total lunar eclipse falling upon a Jewish holy day … with total solar eclipses between the blood moons … landing in the Jewish seventh-year of debt release … leading past 2015-2016 into the next Jubilee Year (when God sets captives free, restores property and proclaims liberty in the land),” he says. “Is the Lord shouting at those with ears to hear and eyes to see?”
