The 17th annual Vero Beach, Florida, Prayer Breakfast kicked off Saturday, April 3 at 9 a.m. Eastern. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year’s breakfast was canceled, and organizers chose to take the event virtual this year.

John Bona, founder of the event, introduced the various speakers, an array of charismatic and evangelical leaders with keynote speaker Jonathan Falwell of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, son of the late Jerry Falwell Sr., who spoke at the second annual Vero Beach event. Falwell preached a powerful message setting forth the gospel and reminding believers of the power of the Resurrection available today.

Other speakers, who each gave brief video presentations and prayers, included Pat Boone, Pierre Bynum, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, Kathie Lee Gifford, Alveda King, Paul Jehle, Kevin Jessip, Tim Lee, Mike Lindell, Anne Graham Lotz, Bill Martinez, Tony Perkins, Marco Rubio, Robert Shepitka, Samuel Smadja, Mathew Staver, Kevin Sorbo, Joe Theismann and Charles Woods. Their words of faith and prayer alternated with music led by Charles Billingsley and Guy Penrod, with worship from Penrod beginning ahead of the event at 8 a.m.

Bestselling author Cahn, one of the co-founders of “The Return,” referred to that Sept. 26, 2020, event on the Washington National Mall, reminding viewers of America’s deep need for repentance. Jessip, also a co-founder of “The Return” and president of the Global Strategic Alliance called believers to “rise above situations and overcome them by the power of the Holy Spirit,” urging all to embrace Resurrection power as we align with the assignments God has given us and to “move in unity with Him.”

Bona and his son, Matt, also shared how God uses our Founding Fathers to build our nation on a foundation of faith and calling the nation to follow Jesus, “the liberty man,” in preaching, teaching and sacrificing for the true cause of liberty implicit in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Matt, like many of the speakers, also shared the gospel, assuring listeners that only true faith in Jesus Christ can bring salvation and freedom.

“Come to the cross of Calvary,” John Bona urged viewers, telling them that “children of the father of lies can become children of the truth. … Let this be Emmanuel’s land. Tell your children and grandchildren the wonderful works of the Lord” and urging them to continue to seek true freedom in their hearts and in our land.

Charles Woods, father of Navy SEAL hero Ty Woods, who was killed in Benghazi, Libya, along with three other American heroes defending the freedom of all Americans, served as the event’s final speaker. He mentioned the political decision that led to his son’s death, saying, “I had to forgive” and urging others to forgive as well. He pointed to the “possible injustices” of the 2020 election and reminding viewers that God is the one who puts down and raises up leadership as He chooses, but that He will work all things together for good and is “always doing what is best for His people.” He reminded viewers that “Biden may be in the White House, but God is still on His throne.”

Bynum, chaplain and national prayer director of the Family Research Council, prayed the event’s closing prayer calling the believers to “pray for all the saints” and urging them that even in a cancel culture, they must boldly make known the gospel of Jesus Christ. The event concluded with a closing anthem from Penrod, “Nothing But the Blood of Jesus.”
