Vandals defaced a small-town church with demonic symbols and racial slurs, according to recent reports.
Police say the vandals spray-painted pentagrams, “666,” expletives about God and more on Friendship Baptist Church in Springtown, Texas, early Monday morning. The incident occurs a few months after someone built a pentagram altar of sorts with stones outside the church.
“This is very troublesome,” Sheriff Larry Fowler said. “It is disturbing when someone defaces a house of worship in a hate crime. This incident is at the top of the list for unspeakable acts.”
Churches are a frequent target for offensive graffiti. At one Atlanta church, vandals smashed in windows before spray-painting references to John 2.
In Kentucky, vandals broke into a local church and doused the sanctuary, altar and organ in chemicals, forcing the congregation to shutter its doors.
