TD Jakes’ Daughter Asks for Prayer During Divorce

Sarah Henson, the youngest daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes, is requesting prayer as she files for divorce from her husband of four years. On her personal website she says her decision was made on “biblical grounds” and that she tried to avoid this unfortunate conclusion.

“I have attempted every other recourse, but after multiple infractions over the course of the union, and for my personal safety and that of my children, I have come to this painful decision,” she posted.

Henson was 19 years old when she and her husband Robert Henson, an NFL free agent, were married in a lavish ceremony in 2008. The two have one daughter together and Sarah has another child from a previous relationship. (She shares her personal testimony of becoming pregnant at 14 on her blog. )

Sarah leads the women’s ministry at Jakes’ church, The Potter’s House in Dallas, and has ministered to women about the importance of being a good wife and mother.

“I have built my ministry and identity around being the best wife and a mother I can be,” she says. “For quite some time I have tried to steer through some serious troubles at home, as much as I wanted my marriage to last, it cannot. After professional counseling, and prayerful consideration I have decided to end my four-year marriage.”
