Some 50,000 people have descended upon the city of Dallas. They journeyed from many corners of the world to be a part of a massive, three-day Christian conference sponsored by megachurch pastor, Bishop T.D. Jakes.

MegaFest 2013 brings all of Jakes’ well-known conferences home to Texas: Man Power, Women Thou Art Loose and Mega Youth.

The megachurch pastor is pulling in some big names in the entertainment industry, like Oprah Winfrey, to help him draw an even bigger crowd.

“I am like a little kid ready to open a present because I know there is something there for me. I can’t wait,” conference guest Colomba Caballero said.

“I love ‘Woman, Thou Art Loose.’ I have attended that,” MegaFest attendee Raquel De Los Santos said. “But I have never attended MegaFest, and I wanted something where I could bring my whole family, my husband, my kids. It is an awesome experience. I mean it is big. It is a lot, but it is awesome.”

The conference was last held in Atlanta in 2006, and some of those who attended then have made the journey to Texas.

“We drove. We didn’t fly. We rented a car that was fuel efficient. So, we are cutting costs. We are doing all right,” conference guest Isaiah Robertson said.

Gospel recording artist Jonathan McReynolds is among the exhaustive list of people ministering at MegaFest.

“It’s my first time at MegaFest,” he told CBN News. “So it’s always, it’s always a little bit intimidating. But not because it is MegaFest or Bishop Jakes. We are all brother and sisters in this.”

The event is also about empowerment and education. Bishop Jakes has teamed up with Regent Unversity to offer a school of leadership here on site and beyond.

This conference is the first of its kind for the city of Dallas and it is expected to pump millions of dollars into the city. But beyond that, it is changing lives with the gospel.
