Surviving Obamacare: Weathering Its Coming Impact

With President Obama’s re-election, Obamacare is beyond repeal. The Affordable Care Act will roll out as written and will have a life-altering impact on every American’s health care.

But health policy expert Betsy McCaughey says there are steps you can take to survive, and even beat, Obamacare.

While many don’t know her name, McCaughey may be recognizable to some as the woman who shows up at television interviews lugging the entire 2,572-page health care law with her.

McCaughey is a lawyer who has pored over every detail of the law and has been sounding the alarm about its shocking realities.

For example, if you presently get insurance through your job, you may lose it as of Jan. 1, 2014.

“That’s when the new ’employer mandate’ kicks in, requiring employers with 50 or more full-time workers to provide the government-designed health plan or pay a fine,” McCaughey explained in a New York Post column.

“To avoid the costly mandate, some employers will push workers into part-time status. Other employers will opt for the fine. Either way, workers lose their on-the-job coverage,” she said.

Another pitfall: If you’re a senior or a baby boomer, you can expect less care than in the past.

“The Obama health law takes $716 billion out of future Medicare funding and ships it over to fund entitlements for people under age 65,” McCaughey told Newsmax in a recent interview.

“This is going to force hospitals, hospice care, dialysis centers, homecare providers to take care of the same number of seniors for much less money—hundreds of billions of dollars less money,” she explained.

“And it’s going to force hospitals to downgrade the care they provide seniors,” McCaughey warned. “Once hospitals are forced to downgrade care, seniors will die from conditions that they could have survived.”

Finally, as of 2014, you’ll have to show proof on your tax return that you’re enrolled in a government-approved health care plan, or pay a hefty penalty.

But there are ways to protect the quality of your health care as well as your pocketbook.

Her new book, Beating Obamacare – Your Handbook for Surviving the New Health Care Law, boils the convoluted medical jargon in the massive law down to its essential facts in order to give you what you need to prepare for the coming storm.
