Faith & Liberty, Liberty Counsel and Liberty Counsel Action are hosting the “Remembering the Preborn” event on Saturday, Jan. 22, in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Participants will place 3,000 flowers on the sidewalk during this prayer vigil in front of the high court at 11 a.m. to represent the approximate number of American babies who are killed every day by abortion.

Jan. 22 is designated as the National Sanctity of Human Life Day and marks the 49th year since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade, along with its companion case Doe v. Bolton, the infamous abortion opinions that opened the doors to killing pre-born babies for any reason and at any stage of development. Since that tragic day in 1973, more than 63 million innocent children have been brutally killed by abortion.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating Jan. 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. Part of the proclamation states: “I call upon the citizens of this blessed land to gather on that day in homes and places of worship to give thanks for the gift of life, and to reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of every human being and the sanctity of each human life.”

Faith & Liberty Chairman Mat Staver said, “Jan. 22 is a tragic day in American history. We cannot escape the consequences of this human genocide unless we stop the slaughter and repent of this terrible sin. Abortion is rebellion against God, the author of human life. Abortion kills innocent children and destroys the dignity of women. We will continue fighting the battle to make the womb a safe place again.”

Faith & Liberty is America’s premier Christian outreach to top-level government officials in Washington, D.C. Faith & Liberty accomplishes its mission through building personal relationships with individuals serving in government, distributing Scripture and informative materials, and staging special events and Bible studies. {eoa}
