Politicians Unknowingly Prophesy Over US Through This Campaign

Though the capitol is normally divided along partisan lines, a singular song is drumming up support from Republicans and Democrats, and some say it could ignite a national revival.

For Sing It America Executive Director Shelli Manuel the fuel for that fire lies within the national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.”

“This could be what launches us into revival,” Manuel says. “Especially if (politicians) start proclaiming that last verse over us prophetically. … They’re crying out for revival. People from both sides want it, even if they don’t know what ‘it’ is.”

One thing stopping America from ushering in a fresh wave of the Holy Spirit can be linked to how many people lack patriotism and don’t know the words to their own “fight song,” Manuel says.

Instead, Maneul sees Americans protesting the national anthem, requesting a change to something that ignores God.

“Once you leave out the courage of the saints and replace it with anything else, you leave a naked nation,” she says.

But “The Star Spangled Banner” holds a special spot in the lives of politicians.

“I have Senate friends on both sides, singing the last verse, ‘In God we trust,’ with their hands on their hearts,” she says.

And the senators may be the only ones who know those lyrics. A Harris Survey found that 61 percent of Americans don’t know the lyrics to the anthem, part of the which is Francis Scott Key’s prayer of gratitude and prophecy:

“Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
“Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
“Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
“Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
“Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
“And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
“And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
“O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!”

Congress made a resolution last September declaring Sept. 14, 2014-Sept. 14, 2015, as the National Year of Thanksgiving for the anthem. The resolution also commemorates the bicentennial of the penning of the national anthem.

To capitalize on this, and to inspire a new love of country and reach the lost, Manuel and Sing It America are hosting From Dawn’s Early Light to Dawn’s Early Light in Washington, D.C., Sept. 14 on the Lincoln Memorial side of the National Mall.

“This is how the church should be—filling in a hole wherever we see it,” Manuel says. “If you show up with the right attitude, and you love these people, volunteer to be helpful, be flexible … I found out we can bless them.”

For Manuel, it’s not about fighting Washington or attacking President Barack Obama. She says it only wastes time and money and severs valuable relationships. Instead, the church should focus on how they can help politicians—through prayer and spiritual warfare.

“These are normal people who come here with the best intentions,” Manuel says. “It’s the demonic spirits of compromise that take over (when they come to Washington).”

The way to fight Satan through our politicians is unity.

“They’re all desperate and not in the least bit resistant to be talking about God,” Manuel says. “But it’s the national anthem that means a lot to them.”
