Planned Parenthood spokesperson Monica McCafferty has gone on record stating the Personhood amendment in Colorado is partly to blame for the scheduled closure of two Planned Parenthood offices in Colorado.

J. Adrian Stanley of the Colorado Springs Independent writes, “McCafferty says she believes personhood organizers have taken to the ballot repeatedly as ‘a tactic … to just drain our resources.’”

The article continues to quote McCafferty claiming the campaigns to defeat Personhood amendments in Colorado cost the abortion industry giant about $3 million dollars and that the overexpenditure has “hurt.”

Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains engaged in repeated costly legal battles with Personhood Colorado and Personhood USA yet failed to keep personhood off the ballot and away from voters. Planned Parenthood has taken an expensive role in defeating Colorado’s Personhood amendments, outspending the personhood efforts by nearly 10 to 1 in some campaigns.

The article, titled “Pro-Lifers Not Satisfied With Bill That Makes Forced Miscarriage a Crime,” highlights the Brady amendment, an amendment launched to change the Colorado criminal code to protect pregnant victims of violence. It also states that Planned Parenthood is already gearing up to try to defeat the amendment.

Planned Parenthood Eastside and La Junta currently offer chemical abortions ranging in cost from $38 to $817, including the dangerous “morning-after pill.” Both offices refer patients for surgical abortions at other Colorado abortion businesses, and both are slated to be closed in the near future.

“Of course we are very pleased to see Planned Parenthood chemical abortion facilities close down,” affirms Jennifer Mason, spokesperson for Personhood USA. “They profit on the killing of innocent children by preying on vulnerable women. Then they use their ill-gotten gains to fight legislation to protect women and children, and it’s time for them to close their doors for good.”
