Hazel Hoskins, a missionary who shared God’s Word on every continent alongside her evangelist husband Bob, passed away Monday, June 22 at the age of 81.

Hazel was the wife of Bob Hoskins, founder of OneHope, a Pompano Beach, FL-based ministry that is seeking to reach every child in every nation with the Word of God, and the mother of Rob Hoskins, chairman of the board of Oral Roberts University (ORU) and president of OneHope.

“Hazel Hoskins was an incredible woman who always believed and trusted the Lord for the impossible. I’m just one of the thousand of people who had the honor of being impacted by her life. Right after my mom had her second was brain cancer related surgery Hazel made it a point to see me,” says Tessie DeVore, Executive Vice President of Charisma House, the book group of Charisma Media, and an ORU board trustee. I will never forget her words: ‘Your mom has already lived longer than doctors predicted, you know why? Because it’s not time. I’ve learned that God is always right on time, even when we don’t like His timing.’ So here we are, not necessarily ‘liking’ His timing, but at peace, that Hazel is rejoicing with Jesus “right on time.”

The family issued the following statement:

“Last night our precious Hazel shed the perishable and put on immortality. She is safe in the arms of Jesus—her Lord and King!

“We’ve had a glorious time as a family, surrounding her and singing praises and thanking God for a life lived to the fullest with no regrets. She has fulfilled a lifetime calling to ‘fight on for God. Hold tightly to the eternal life that God has given you and that you have confessed with such a ringing confession before many witnesses’ (I Tim. 6:12). And even now she is in the glorious Presence of Him who dwells in unapproachable Light!

“We are comforted in the knowledge that ‘death is swallowed up in victory’ and though we who are here still see in a mirror dimly and know in part, Hazel now knows Him fully, face to face.

“Our family is deeply thankful to all of you who have persevered in prayer and in faith on our behalf. We would ask you to continue to pray for us in the days and weeks ahead as we sorrow, but not as those without hope.

” ‘Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also’ (John 14:1-3).”

Condolences from around the world are pouring in on Facebook. Here is one of many, demonstrating how many lives Hazel touched.

“Hazel was very kind to me. I have vivid memories of her sitting at the piano in her Beirut home teaching me songs I did not know,” wrote Tyronne Bragg. “She will be forever present in that special place in my heart. My she dwell in light perpetual. Bob and family, may the Prince of Peace bring comfort in your grief and assurance that all indeed is well.”

Hazel’s memorial service to be held on Saturday, June 27 at 4 p.m. Church of all Nations. The Celebration of Life for Hazel Hoskins will be officiated by her nephew, Pastor David B. Crabtree, Jr. of Greensboro, NC. For those unable to attend, the service will be available on live stream. You can access the streaming by visiting OneHope.net/hazel.
