‘Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head’ Singer BJ Thomas Dead at 78

B.J. Thomas, Grammy Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning country, pop and gospel singer behind hits including “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on my Head” and “Hooked on a Feeling,” died on May 29, 2021, at his home in Arlington, Texas, representatives confirm. He was 78 and died of complications of stage 4 lung cancer, diagnosed in March.

Born in Hugo, Oklahoma and reared in Houston, Billy Joe Thomas had a breakthrough hit in 1966 with a gospel-styled cover of Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” and went on to sell millions of records and have dozens of hits across genres. He reached No. 1 with pop, adult contemporary and country listeners in 1976 with “Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.” The same year, his “Home Where I Belong” became one of the first gospel albums to be certified platinum for selling more than 1 million copies. He went on to win a total of five Grammys and sell more than 70 million records.

Thomas’ iconic hit “Raindrops” from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. He later said the song’s success exacerbated an addiction to pills and alcohol which dated back to his teens, when a record producer in Houston suggested he take amphetamines to boost his energy levels, per klove.com. Touring and recording constantly, he took dozens of pills a day. By 1976, while “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” was hitting No. 1, he said he felt like he was “No. 1,000.”

How America Is Adulterating the Culture Established by Its Christian Founders

Having relinquished America’s 17th- and 18th-century Judeo-Christian heritage and biblically based founding, contemporary “progressive” America finds itself in the position of a blind man in a dark alley looking for a black cat.

Americans thus can no longer make heads or tails of what constitutes absolute truth, thereby enabling cultural Marxism and profane secular progressivism to serially adulterate the culture established by its Christian founders.

Recently, former U.S. Attorney General William Barr accepted an award named after former President Ronald Reagan’s Attorney General Ed Meese. In his acceptance speech he warned “about the greatest threat to religious liberty in America today: the increasingly militant and extreme secular-progressive climate of our state-run education system.

‘Rolling to Remember’ Ride Honors Veterans, Brings Fresh Air to Washington, D.C.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, please reach out to the National Suicide Hotline: 800-273-8255.

Reeling from months of darkness, hate and despicable behavior by antifa, Black Lives Matter and others who turned the city into a boarded-up crime zone, the rush of motorcycle engines brought a breath of fresh air to stifling Washington, D.C. on Sunday, May 30, beginning at noon.

Rolling to Remember, which replaced the previous Rolling Thunder motorcycle event, was sponsored by AMVETS and brought an estimated group of 50,00 motorcycle riders, nearly all veterans and their families, to clear the air from the anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Israel rally that took place the previous day, with Washingtonians cheering them on. {eoa}
