The Association of Related Churches (ARC) has passed the leadership baton to Greg Surratt, an ARC pastor and founding member.

Surratt succeedes founding ARC president Billy Hornsby, who went to be with the Lord in March 2011.

“I’m honored to be asked to serve in this role,” Surratt says. “My friend Billy Hornsby set the tone of caring for and encouraging church planters. I hope to continue to lead us in doing the same and to watch ARC become a worldwide church planting movement.”

In 2000, Surratt, senior pastor of Seacoast Church, shared his dream to plant 2,000 churches with Hornsby. Surratt, Hornsby and a handful of other pastors would soon launch ARC to offer church planters four tools: relationship, a workable model, training and funding.

Since 2002, ARC has helped plant more than 220 churches across the US. Surratt’s Seacoast Church in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., was one of the early adopters of the ARC’s multi-site model. Various media have recognized Seacoast as an innovative and influential thought leader in future strategies for church growth and development. Seacoast currently has 29 weekend worship experiences in 13 separate locations. Surratt will continue to serve Seacoast as senior pastor.
