Center for Christian Virtue Champions Pro-Family Ohio State Senate Bill

Following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, State Sen. of Ohio Tina Maharath (D) has authored a bill to hold men accountable for any unplanned pregnancy. The Center for Christian Virtue, Ohio’s largest Christian public policy organization, believes the potential new law would be a productive step forward in the post-Roe era, “to restore a culture that recognizes that sex requires commitment,” CCV president Aaron Bear says.

“Sen. Tina Maharath’s legislation is an innovative approach to combat the hook-up culture that has led to broken lives, hurting women and abandoned children,” Bear says.

“The beauty of SB 262 is its simplicity,” he adds. “The biology this bill is based on is as basic as math: Man plus woman equals child. We must hold the men who are entering this equation responsible for their actions, and this pro-family, pro-marriage legislation does just that.

“Restoring the dignity of human life requires that we restore a virtuous sexual ethic that leads men to stay with the women with whom they consensually engage in sexual activity, and provide for the children they create,” Bear says. {eoa}
