Online for Life can be counted as one of the great allies in the fight to stamp out abortion. The non-profit organization reached a significant milestone—1,000 babies saved—on June 26 in Springfield, Mo.

“I would have been thrilled if we had saved only one life,” OFL co-founder and President Brian Fisher said. “But to save 1,000 … is truly humbling. This proves that abortion can be stamped out with compassion, grace, and tangible help.”

OFL went online in early 2010 and provides advice for individuals and families facing an unwanted pregnancy that may not fully understand the ramifications of their decision. Online for Life helps connect them with life-affirming centers that provide caring counsel along with complete and accurate medical information.

In addition to providing a free ultrasound and discussing all of the options available to women and families considering abortion, life-affirming centers share information about the emotional and psychological impact of terminating a pregnancy.

As each family or individual chooses life for its baby, OFL celebrates the decision on Facebook and via its app, which also invites people to pray in real time for those who are being counseled at the life-affirming centers.

OFL officials hope to save its next 1,000 children in even quicker fashion. Their prayer is to change the cultural discussion about abortion—that it’s not an “easy out”—but has devastating consequences for both men and women.

Fisher challenges men to step up to their responsibility in supporting their partners and protecting their unborn children. His recent book, “Abortion: The Ultimate Exploitation of Women,” addresses the many cultural myths about abortion, laying responsibility for it squarely at the feet of men.

“We won’t end abortion in America until men individually choose to live their lives in a manner that rejects selfishness,” Fisher wrote. “Abortion exists because of male selfishness. It will continue to exist as long as men continue to see their own power, control and pleasure.”
