Righteous Democracy: ‘Fight on Your Knees’

Prior to protesters pushing past barricades and breaching the Capitol in Washington, D.C., today, the democratic process was shining brightly. Whether Republican or Democrat, the organized efforts of Congress were on display as the votes of the Electoral College were counted into the record and objections raised by senators and representatives for states with suspect votes.

A peaceful gathering near the White House called the “Save America March” welcomed President Donald J. Trump as a speaker and cheered as he spoke of his appreciation for their support. The president applauded what he called the “extraordinary love” from his supporters. “There’s never been a movement like this,” he added. “Now it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy.”

In addition to the nation’s capital, Trump supporters gathered at state capitols today, showing their support for the president. Republicans in Orange County, Florida, sent a strong message to Democrats in Washington—they’re still here, and they’re not going to give up their attempt to save the integrity of the country’s elections.

Charisma Media founder and CEO Stephen Strang attended the event, saying the issue America faces is no longer about the reelection of President Donald Trump. It’s something much deeper.

“I know that not everybody is religious, but if you pray at all, we need to pray now more than ever,” Strang said. “Donald Trump is not just a politician; he’s a leader. Moreover, our prayers and our stand are about integrity.”

Strang went on to discuss election fraud and how the nation cannot accept a corrupt election.

“It just makes it a matter of who can cheat the most from now on,” he added. “I believe in the basic values of this country, even though America has changed a lot in the last few decades. We’re still a country of people who believe in freedom. And Donald Trump is the one who listened to us. We need to do everything we can to support this president.”

Willie Montague, pastor of the new Gravity Church in Orlando, has announced his candidacy for U.S. Congress in 2022 in an attempt to break into politics as a Black person of faith.

He said that, going forward, we must fight, but we must fight in prayer.

“I believe there is great hope,” Montague said. “God has a way to get us on our knees, and that’s the way we get our hope back. We get on our knees and pray to get back those Christian principles. Only then will we see change in our community.

“We need to lead by example, the example we have seen with President Trump over the last four years,” Montague said. “Christ showed us the example. We all have different assignments, and our tenacity must be our driving force. We need people who are going to fight back with Christian principles.”

Stop the Violence

These words ring especially true in light of unknown protesters fighting with violence rather than prayer. One man in Washington, D.C., tweeted that the Republicans in the city for the peaceful march with the president are not responsible for the violence.

And in response, Tami Barthen tweeted: “We were there too. Trump’s millions were peaceful.”

And from Hollywood actor and Christian advocate, Kevin Sorbo:

Currently, people are being dispersed. Once security deems it appropriate, Congress will need to reconvene to address its constitutional responsibility to either certify the election or support the request of the 13 senators and 100 House members who are asking for a special committee to be formed to lead a 10-day audit of election results.

“What does it say to nearly half the country that believes this election was rigged if we vote not even to consider the claims of illegality and fraud in this election?” asked Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in his speech on the Senate floor today. {eoa}
