Urgent Prayer Needed: Missionary Aid Worker Kidnapped in Ukraine

An aid worker with CBN’s Orphan’s Promise ministry has been kidnapped in Ukraine.

The woman’s name is Valentina, and those close to the situation report eyewitnesses saw the kidnappers throw a bag over her head when she was abducted.

Russian forces are believed to be behind the kidnapping. Russian troops have besieged the area where Valentina lives, and she had been helping with the distribution of food to people who are hiding in bomb shelters.

The Military ‘Whistleblower’ the Defense Department Fears

Lt. Col. Theresa Long joined ROTC at age 16 and enlisted in the Army at 17. A medical doctor and a flight surgeon, Dr. Long holds a master’s degree in public health and has received specialized training in epidemiology and biostatistics, among other accomplishments.

As medical and scientific advisor to an aviation brigade, it was her job to identify risk mitigation strategies and biostatistical analysis of injuries and illnesses, including COVID-19. As such, Long is also an expert in the DOD Defense Military Epidemiology Database that tracks all military medical treatment.

Long’s primary responsibility is to assess the health and needs of 20-to-30-year-old military pilots. As a medical researcher and a practicing physician, Long knew that the young pilots she serves are statistically proven to have a COVID survival rate of 99.97%.

Signs, Wonders, Miracles: God Grants Healing, Salvation in Response to Prayers for Ukraine

I spoke with a missionary we are calling Yelena. She has asked for her identity to be protected as she works in Ukraine and Eastern Europe right now. Yelena was born in the Soviet Union in the area that would eventually become Ukraine. She moved to America at the age of 11 and later received the Lord Jesus as Savior.

Two weeks ago when Russia invaded Ukraine, she saw the opportunity to return to Ukraine to offer humanitarian aid. She and a team of four others went to Lviv and began establishing connections with the local Ukrainian church. “The goal was not only to provide aid and necessities, but to provide people with Jesus Christ,” Yelena said. {eoa}
