Pat Robertson Steps Down From Longtime ‘700 Club’ Role

Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, announced today on the 60th anniversary of CBN’s first broadcast (Oct.1, 1961), that he has stepped down as the host of the long-running The 700 Club program.

“Today’s show will be my final as host of The 700 Club, “said Robertson. “My replacement will be my very capable son, Gordon, who will take over as full-time host of the program.”

During his time as host of The 700 Club, which began production in 1966, Robertson searched the world to interview interesting guests for his audience. Highlights include:

Prayer Movement Exploding in UK as Brits Turn to God

A new survey has found that one third of UK adults pray and attend church at least once a month.

The poll, conducted by Savanta ComRes and commissioned by The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer, found that 31% attend church and take part in a service, and that 36% pray, either alone, with a small group or at church.

The findings, which sampled 2075 UK adults aged 18 and over, found that young people are particularly engaged spiritually with half (51%) of 18 to 34-year-olds praying at least once a month, compared to a quarter (24%) of those aged 55 and over. Meanwhile, half (49%) of 18 to 34-year-olds attend church at least once a month, compared to under a fifth (16%) of those aged 55 and over.

How the American Government Has Abandoned Its God-Given Responsibility

“If men were angels, no government would be necessary,” said James Madison, chief architect of the U.S. Constitution. Indeed, if humankind lived according to the Golden Rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” no human government would ever be necessary.

Men, however, are not angels and people in general do not live by the Golden Rule. After our first parents rebelled against their Creator (Genesis 3), human nature became flawed by sin and the first murder soon occurred with Cain murdering his brother Abel. It is the flawed, sinful nature of fallen humanity that made human government necessary.

Although the Bible does not prescribe a certain form of government, it does spell out the purpose of human government, and it is not to control people and play God in their lives. {eoa}
