Why Believers Need to Hold a Funeral and a Coronation Daily

If we are going to see heaven on earth here and now, as Jesus promised in the Bible, Tennessee pastor Robby Gallaty says we must meet at least two conditions.

“Every Christian, every day, should have a funeral and a coronation when they step out of bed,” Gallaty told Dr. Steve Greene on a recent episode of “Greenelines” on the Charisma Podcast Network. “No. 1, there must be a funeral. We need to die to self and basically leave our old self, take up our cross and follow Christ. Many Christians, whether intentionally or unintentionally, live for self, and that’s not the type of heart God wants from his children.

“But we also need to coronate Jesus as both King and Lord and follow Him every day of our lives. If we do that, we’re going to see God really work.”

Gallaty says many Christians serve God out of duty instead of devotion.

“The idea is, I’m not serving the Lord because I have to. I’m serving the Lord because I get to,” Gallaty says. “Jesus is trying to break in from heaven to earth through us to change the world. It’s a big difference in our Christian life that will change the decision making of your daily life, will change the way you do things, how you see things and what captures your eyes.

“Your vision will change when you get that. Everything changes because you’re no longer sitting idly and passively by right to wait for the return of Christ. You actually wake up every day and you say, ‘OK, I’m on mission for the Lord. I’m on mission, like, what can you do in my life today?'”
