Meek Is Not Weak

Like a shepherd with his sheep, God is our protector.

Wisdom is often contrary to intellectual understanding.

The way to strength is through weakness. The way to be first is to seek to be last. Riches are found in poverty. Nothing that we have or can obtain is acceptable currency in the kingdom of God.

The Beatitudes tell us that, “the meek shall inherit the earth.”

When I think of “meek,” it’s hard to think of the way meekness is depicted by writers in film and books.  Synonyms offer limited insight with selections such as hesitant, insecure, mousey, sheepiness, timid, unassertive.

In the book of Numbers, Moses was labeled meek, “Now the man Moses was very meek, above all men which were upon the face of the earth” (Numbers 12:3, KJV).

Yet Moses led 600,000 men plus women and children out of Egypt and through the wilderness for 40 years. It doesn’t seem like any synonym for meek applies to spiritual leadership.

The strongest leaders live to “commit your way to the Lord and trust in Him and He will act” (Ps. 37:5).

I believe meek leaders have committed their ways unto the Lord. Their faith is rooted and established and true leaders are not blown about by any wind or whim of others.

Meek leaders do not take matters into their own hands. They do not impose personal will with force. The meek leader understands that God is in control of every situation and there is no reason to fret or grab or roar.

Meek leaders do what they do with quiet confidence.

Platform Tip No. 84

After a gloomy weekend, I was rewarded this morning with a view of the sun.

The sun was always there. It shows up every day. I’m not always in the right place to see it, but it’s there.

The sun doesn’t demand anything from me. There’s nothing to pay for the opportunity to see it or to sit beneath it.

Help your audience by showing up every day and sharing a message of light.
