Today’s Scripture

“Now we exhort you, brothers, warn those who are unruly, comfort the faint-hearted, support the weak, and be patient toward everyone. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone. But always seek to do good to one another and to all” (1 Thess. 5:14-15).

Platform Tip No. 98

Take the time to write out exactly what the need is that you are trying to support with content help. Move away from general statements and be as specific as possible.

The more clarity you provide about the need you are addressing, the larger your audience will become. Big platforms are not created by generalists.

Study this example progression—each statement becomes more specific.

I want to help people.

I want to help parents.

I want to help parents with children under 10.

I want to provide content to parents of children under 10 to address common day-to-day issues.

I want to provide biblical content to parents of children under 10 to help them raise their children in a Spirit-led home.

We could become even more specific but the last “I want” will help the author create content for many years.

Work hard to identify a very specific audience and need set. Determine the points of pain for a parent. Help them make the pain go away.

Write with specificity.

Remember, you may help people in a very broad sense, all day long.

But develop content for a specific need and deliver that content on your platform.

“My message is for parents with children under 10. I want to provide content that will inform and encourage parents to prepare a path for their children to intentionally follow Jesus.”
