Army Vet Offers ‘Basic Training’ for Debt Freedom

Like it or not, America is in a battle for her financial future. And just like military preparation, financial planner Steve Repak says the solution to win the war against financial debt is a little basic training.

Basic training is where ordinary Americans are transformed into soldiers ready for battle. Drills teach immediate and correct responses to some of the most uncomfortable or unnatural situations.

And if it works on the battlefield, Repak says it can work in the battle against financial debt.

Repak himself served 12 years in the Army then retired with massive amounts of credit card debt. That debt forced him to utilize his military know-how and earn a certification in financial planning to fight his way out.

Now the veteran shares his secrets to financial success in his new book, Dollars and Uncommon Sense: Basic Training for Your Money.

Through worksheets and helpful Web links, the Army vet retrains Americans’ mental and emotional mindset toward money.

Repak argues that, too often, money problems result when people rely too much on “common sense” when instead they should apply a little “uncommon sense.”

Repak talked about his financial basic training book, including what he means by “uncommon sense,” some of the ways to “retrain your brain” when it comes to money and a whole lot more, on Friday’s The 700 Club. Click play to watch the interview.
