Millions of people were captivated by Heaven Is for Real, a movie based on the best-selling book of the same title.

In anticipation of next month’s DVD and Blu-ray release, Sony Pictures released a deleted scene and behind-the-scenes video explaining how the film made it to the big screen.

In the scene, which you can watch below, pastor Todd Burpo (Greg Kinnear) finds himself at a crossroads when his church board shows skepticism about his son Colton’s heavenly experience.

Producer Joe Roth is featured in the behind-the-scenes video, in which he explains that he regularly reads the Sunday New York Times book section to look for film ideas. He talks about how he became intrigued after reading a write-up about Colton’s story. Watch that video below.
