Worship leader Candace Payne is now one of the most recognized viral figures, and she’s going to use that to glorify God.
In the last week, the mom, aka Chewbacca Mom, made her rounds from Good Morning America to The Late Late Show with James Corden to the Facebook headquarters. In doing so, she’s brought the Holy Spirit with her.
Two-and-a-half years ago, Payne encountered the Holy Spirit and received the gift of tongues.
“We started singing these lyrics: ‘Holy Spirit, You are welcome here. Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere. Your glory God is what our hearts long for, to be overcome by Your presence Lord,'” Payne shares. “And as we sang that, I’ve just got to tell you I felt a deep conviction in my soul that I was not a welcoming place for the Holy Spirit. As a matter of fact, I was quenching the Spirit of God, which I really really loved. So I just started to say to Him, ‘God, I’m just so sorry. I’m so sorry.”
And while she was praying, she realized the words coming out of her mouth were not the English words running through her brain.
