Satanic Temple Sues Indiana to Continue Abortions

With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Indiana recently passed an abortion restriction law. This law restricts abortion from conception except in certain cases that pertain to rape, incest, fatal abnormalities or the mother at severe risk of death.

The Satanic Temple, based out of Salem, Mass., has taken issue with this law, claiming it violates their religious belief in abortion and the Constitution.

“Members of TST hold the religious belief that an unwanted zygote, blastocyst, embryo or nonviable fetus should be removed from the body of a pregnant woman. This belief is grounded in TST Tenet III that a woman’s body is inviolable, subject to her own will alone,” the lawsuit states.

All of these changes in terminology are extraordinary ways of saying the baby growing within the mother.

Even stranger is the lawsuit’s reference to the mother’s being labeled as, ‘Involuntarily Pregnant Women,’ which ironically goes against the left’s claim that men can get pregnant, too. A simple observation using common sense can literally bring down the entire gender-bending argument that goes against nature.

The lawsuit defines an Involuntarily Pregnant Woman (not person) as a woman who:

A. Is pregnant with an ‘unborn child,’ as that term is used in Indiana Code § 16-18-2128.7;

B. The ‘unborn child’ is not ‘viable’ as that term is used in the Indiana Code;

C. Became pregnant without her consent due to:

i. The legal inability to consent to sex (other than rape or incest);

ii. The failure of her birth control.

Aside from the legal inability to consent to sex, which the new state law addresses, the remaining definitions of ‘involuntarily pregnant’ are not accurate. Simply being pregnant does not make it involuntary. The state law addresses viability and having birth control fail to work does not mean the pregnancy was involuntary. It may be considered unplanned or unwanted, but birth control is never 100% effective.

This lawsuit also shines a very disturbing light on the fact that the American government, the current administration in power, is siding with The Satanic Temple. The Biden Administration is pro-abortion as the White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said:

“The Indiana Legislature took a devastating step as a result of the Supreme Court’s extreme decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and eliminate women’s constitutionally-protected right to abortion.” She continued, “And, it’s another radical step by Republican legislators to take away women’s reproductive rights and freedom, and put personal health care decisions in the hands of politicians rather than women and their doctors.”

This should be a wake-up call for those who believe in Jesus, yet still hold onto the belief that abortion is about rights. For any issue, when people find themselves on the same side as the Satanic Temple, there needs to be a lot of soul-searching about whether they are actually on the biblical side of the argument.

Thankfully, Indiana has a governor who is not backing down from the challenge. Governor Holcomb wrote a statement reaffirming his belief in life and the protection of it:

“Following the overturning of Roe, I stated clearly that I would be willing to support legislation that made progress in protecting life. In my view, SEA 1 accomplishes this goal following its passage in both chambers of the Indiana General Assembly with a solid majority of support. These actions followed long days of hearings filled with sobering and personal testimony from citizens and elected representatives on this emotional and complex topic. Ultimately, those voices shaped and informed the final contents of the legislation and its carefully negotiated exceptions to address some of the unthinkable circumstances a woman or unborn child might face.” {eoa}
