The popular series “The Chosen” has released its third Christmas special, “Christmas with The Chosen: Holy Night,” now showing in theaters nationwide. The special, which runs through Dec. 17, features a blend of “The Shepherd” and “The Messenger,” two episodes from the series that depict the birth of Christ from the perspectives of the shepherds and Mary and Joseph.

The Christmas special includes special guest performances by well-known artists such as Andrea and Matteo Bocelli, Matt Maher, Zach Williams, the Bonner Family, Brandon Lake, One Voice Children’s Choir and Joy to the World.

Series creator Dallas Jenkins initially made a short film entitled “The Shepherd” for his church’s Christmas Eve service. The film ultimately led to the creation of “The Chosen,” a series that has garnered high praise for its production value and storytelling. The Christmas special combines “The Shepherd” and “The Messenger” to create a powerful and moving experience for viewers.

In an Instagram post announcing the special, Jenkins shared his excitement about the project: “When Amanda and I saw the first rough cut, we were so moved. It does work, and the nativity story took on even more relevance.” He added that he hopes the special will start a new Christmas tradition for families.

The fourth season of “The Chosen” is set to be released in theaters on Feb. 1, 2024, before being made available on streaming platforms, including the free Chosen app. The series has been praised for its ability to draw viewers’ interest in learning more about the Savior by cracking open their Bible and exploring the lives of Jesus’ disciples.

Katherine Warnock, vice president of original content, emphasized the importance of the new special in reminding viewers of the meaning behind the Christmas season. She hopes that families, friends, and communities will gather to enjoy the special and reflect on the true meaning of the holiday.

The success of Christian media in 2023, as demonstrated by movies like “Jesus Revolution” and “Cast It Out,” is a testament to the power of faith-based storytelling to inspire and uplift audiences. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas with your loved ones.{eoa}
