Spirit-Filled Pastor: ‘You Have To Make Room For the Holy Spirit’

As a pastor, one mistake I made is underestimating the hunger of God’s people, as well as the hunger of the people outside of the church.

Back in July of 2018 we experienced a sudden outpouring of God’s Spirit and power. From August of 2018 to December we saw 1000 spontaneous water baptisms. In these last four years we’ve seen the move of His Spirit only increase. It’s been the hunger of God’s people that has caused this move to continue with such intensity.
Just recently we were on the A&M college campus in Corpus Christi. We saw on a Thursday night, over 600 college students gather outdoors. We preached the gospel of repentance and God’s love, and saw 51 spontaneous water baptisms, salvations and miracles.
In Mark 6:42 when Jesus fed the multitude we read, “So they all ate and were filled.” They didn’t just eat enough to take the edge off of their hunger. They ate until they couldn’t eat another bite. We can experience as much of God’s presence as we want. He’s just waiting for us to give Him the space to fill with His presence.
In these last four years we’ve regularly given the Spirit room to move and He hasn’t disappointed. He will always fill the space you give Him, but that is the only space He can fill.
The baptism of His power
Also four years ago, we began to cry out for His power. As a result, we’ve seen hundreds both young and old alike receive the baptism of His Spirit and fire.
When the church was threatened with imprisonment and death, they responded by praying, “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word…, (Acts 4:29-30)
One sign of the spirit of antichrist today is the extreme censorship of truth. The followers of Jesus refused to be silenced.
We are seeing all ages living out their lives in the boldness of God. Just one result of this is the establishment of 20 Bible clubs in 20 different local schools in our city.
Creating Your Own Pulpit
We also eliminated the normal religious class system—the idea that preaching and baptizing is reserved for professional ministers. Religion always tries to restrict the gospel convincing us that only the “professional” preachers can preach the gospel. The outpouring of the Spirit in Acts 2 destroyed that religious class system.
“‘And it shall come to pass in the last days,’ says God, ‘That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy,'” (Acts 2:17-18).
Peter declared that God’s Spirit will be poured out on sons and daughter, young and old, wealthy and poor … everyone is called to be His expression of redemption.
Instead of waiting for someone to give you a pulpit, create your own. What is a pulpit? It’s a place where His voice can be heard. Recognize the opportunities you have daily to be God’s voice of love and healing.
Almost every week we see members of New Life Church preaching out in the city and baptizing new believers during the week.
In light of everything happening in our world today, people are hungry for what’s real. We are part of God’s end time church. He has given us His Spirit and His Word. Just as hell has accelerated its activity, heaven is accelerating spiritual activity even more.

Regardless of what the future of the world may look like, nothing will stop God’s kingdom. The promise Jesus gave us is still alive: “Upon this rock I will build My church and the gates of hell will not prevail….” Jesus is still building His church. {eoa}

Pastor Mike Fehlauer became the lead pastor of New Life Church in 2011. In addition to being known for his relevant teaching style, Mike believes the local church and the message of Christ is the only hope for a city and a nation. Pastor Mike graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree in theology.
