Robert Jeffress: Transgender-Friendly Businesses Bigger Threat Than ISIS

Companies like Target and Barnes & Noble who encourage transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice threaten U.S. religious freedom more than the Islamic State, Robert Jeffress says.

“I’ve said often the greatest threat to freedom of religion in America is not ISIS, it’s the chamber of commerce,” Jeffress says. “I mean, it’s the businesses that say to our representatives, ‘Oh, don’t pass laws like that, don’t pass these religious freedom laws because people will interpret that as anti-gay and we’ll lose business.'”

But many conservative Christians refuse to comply with the mandates, using the Internet to spread the boycott word.

“Under the guise of ‘protecting students from discrimination,’ these federal agencies are using the bully pulpit to strip parents and local school districts of the right to do something as simple as have separate restrooms and showers for boys and girls. In the eyes of the president, parents and local schools entrusted with teaching our children can’t be trusted with setting bathroom standards,” according to a Family Research Council petition.

“If the American people do not speak up now on an issue like this, there’s no limit to what President Obama’s administration, or future liberal presidents, will be emboldened to do. Please join me in signing the petition urging Congress to take action.”

Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson also launched an online petition.

“America’s Founders fought a revolution and created a Constitution to defend and promote religious freedom. But the Godly values that propelled America to greatness are under attack by the mob mentality of political correctness—and we’re slowly losing our soul,” he writes.

“As Americans, we ought to be able to speak freely about our faith in God and live by our values without fear of coercion. Together with Citizens United, I’m ready to push back and stand tall for religious freedom.”
