Pro-Life Activist Demands Apology from California for Using Her Face to Promote ‘Demonic Activity’

Macy Petty is a generational pro-life activist, and she is “outraged” that footage taken of her following the overturning of Roe v. Wade was twisted for the benefit of the abortion rights movement.

Petty was shown in a video recently released by the state of California and later retweeted by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She was present in June at the Supreme Court when the decision was reversed, and indeed she was crying. However, she was crying tears of joy instead of being “sad and scared” as the video portrayed her to be.

In an open letter posted to her Twitter account late last month, Petty chastised Clinton (for the retweet) and California Gov. Gavin Newsom and others who produced the ad for misusing her image to promote “demonic activity.”

“Hey Hillary, I’m the girl crying in this video,” Petty responded to Clinton’s tweet on Oct. 20. “I am pro-life and those are HAPPY tears because I just witnessed a MIRACLE!”

Petty told The Christian Post recently about her family history in the pro-life movement.

“I’m part of a generation of pro-life activists,” Petty said. “My mom worked at a pregnancy center, and my grandma started one. So, it’s in my blood. And I was just so grateful to be there to witness it because there are so many people who were in the fight before me who didn’t get to witness it.”

Petty told The Christian Post that her demand for removal of her likeness from the video must have been received because she is not in the updated version of the clip. However, her face still remains in the version that Newsom, Clinton and many others have shared on social media.

Petty said the producers of the video “portrayed me in an evil light and distorted my emotions as part of your political games.”

“You selected the portion in which I fell to my knees in tears,” Petty told The Christian Post. “At this moment, I witnessed a miracle. I was overwhelmed. As I continued to witness history, I pondered how lucky I was to witness such an event. I thanked the Lord for this decision and for opening my eyes to the evil of abortion. This is what brought me to tears.”

The ad has been widely distributed to promote California’s Proposition 1, a ballot measure that would enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution. Despite the vocal opposition, 71% of registered California voters support Proposition 1 according to an August poll by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies.

Petty demanded an apology from all of those involved.

“I will not stand by as you use my face, my tears and my passion in a way that promotes demonic activity,” she said.
