Televangelist Kenneth Copeland spoke with Gene Bailey Wednesday on the Victory channel about how to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak as a Christian. They talked about a variety of topics, from politics to social issues to faith.

“Fear is faith. It is faith in death, in the coronavirus: in its ability to hurt or kill you,” Copeland says.

Many people are afraid of losing their job amid the many business closures during self-quarantine orders from the government. But Copeland says that shouldn’t cause fear. Your job is not your source; Jesus is. As far as obeying the government’s orders to quarantine, Copeland says we need to follow them.

“What did Jesus say? He put Caesar first,” Copeland says. “Render unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar. We have a good president, he has a good staff, and we follow their lead. Faith people obey the law.

“You just relax, and watch the victory happen. If you get quarantined at home, go home and take a rest. Get your Scriptures.”

Copeland says we need to be confident in our belief that God is in control and will protect us.

“Fear tolerated is faith contaminated,” Copeland says. “If I’m going to tolerate that fear, like ‘I got laid off, what if I get this thing?’—you’re spending time thinking about the problem, and not the answer. Because you’re born again, you have faith in God, but you’re not using it.

“Meditating on the lies of the devil is worry. Faith in that disease, faith you’re going to lose your job: You’re believing that.”

Copeland says he used to be addicted to cigarettes, and in the same way, it’s possible to get addicted to fear. When he began to consume the Word more, that addiction faded away. Now, it’s important to exercise and eat healthy, Copeland says. But we have to trust God for the rest.

Wednesday Coronavirus Updates:

President Donald Trump announced in a press conference today that the borders between the U.S. and Canada are temporary closed for all unessential travel. This will not affect trade.

Trump also signed an aid package that guarantees sick leave to workers who become ill.
