“God is not a God of disorder but of peace” (1 Cor. 14:33a, NIV).
When we study this Scripture, we often highlight the word “peace,” which is absolutely necessary for our spiritual walk.
But in this discussion, I want to highlight the full meaning of what is being relayed concerning disorder. Further definitions and synonyms are to rebel against, to revolt, to engage in insurrection, rebellion, riot, confusion, pandemonium, chaos. As will be discovered in this teaching, chaos, confusion, a lying spirit and Jezebel spirit often work together.
Jesus shares in Matthew 10:34 (MEV), “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” This Greek word for “peace” is eirene. It means a state of national tranquility and exemption from the rage and havoc of war.
The Greek word for “sword” is machaira. It means “discord” and “to have power to punish.” This is spiritual warfare language. We know our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, principalities and powers (Eph. 6:12).
Why is this important to know? Because in this season we must have discernment, wisdom and spiritual understanding to recognize that what we are seeing unfold is a spiritual battle. We can learn to see and discern from His heavenly perspective. We can learn to live above the demonic activity in the atmosphere and be empowered to be His kingdom influencers in this time. In the midst of the chaos, we are empowered to be the solution, all the while exuding peace, hope and joy.
